How Chiropractic Helps You

Your spine evolved to allow you to stand up straight and move with ease. Unfortunately the bones of your spine eventually shift out of their natural alignment, we call this a subluxation. When your spine becomes subluxated this causes abnormal wear and tear on the joints which leads to poor posture, restricted movement, decreased nerve flow, arthritis and pain.

Chiropractic adjustments gently shift the bones of your spine back towards their natural alignment. This reduces pressure and tension from the joints and nervous system so that you can feel and function at your best.

Improves Posture

Have you tried to sit with good posture but it wasn't long before your mid back felt sore? When the bones of your spine gradually shift out of alignment, your posture gets worse and it becomes hard to stand and sit correctly.

Chiropractic treatment will improve your posture and help you to identify what you are doing to make it worse and what you can do to improve it.

Increases Flexibility

You ability to move your body freely is because the bones of your neck and back are perfectly put together like a puzzle. When they become misaligned from chronic stress or trauma, this will decrease the flexibility of your spine and cause early arthritis to creep in. The more flexible you are the younger you will look and feel.

Improves Nerve and Energy Flow

The nerves that branch off the the spinal cord exit between the bones of your spine and travel to every part of your body. These nerves also bring sensory information from the body back up through the spinal cord to the brain. Misalignment of the bones of your spine can cause pressure or irritation to the nerves. Chiropractic adjustments help to improve the alignment of your spine which will allow your nervous system to function at it’s best. A few examples of decreased nerve flow are numbness, tingling or burning sensations in your neck, back, arms or legs.

Common Conditions Chiropractic Helps

Pregnancy - I love working with pregnant women! It’s a time of great change and excitement. As your baby grows, your pelvis shifts to make room. The ligaments loosen and your pelvis expands. Often the curve in your low back increases adding additional stress onto the lower back. Sciatic pain and low back pain are the most common complaints and respond very well to Chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments are gentle, safe and very effective during pregnancy.

Neck Pain - This is a common reason people come for Chiropractic Care because your neck is exposed to stress everyday. The simple and frequent act of looking down creates great pressure and tension. You look down quite often, to brush your teeth, wash the dishes, take care of kids, you look down at your cellphone and your computer, even when you go for a walk you tend to look slightly down. Even more stress on your neck occurs if you sleep on your stomach or have a physically demanding job and of course old injuries and new traumas all contribute to neck pain.

Low Back Pain - If you have low back pain you're not alone. Many suffer daily with minor aches to severe pain. The latest research shows most lower back problems do not fully resolve without treatment and proper rehabilitation, contrary to previous beliefs. Chiropractors have extensive training aimed at identifying and treating low back conditions.

Headaches - There are many causes of headaches, but most often they are related to the loss of the natural curve in your neck (due to looking down and traumas) which creates muscular tension.Chiropractic care is extremely helpful in treating headaches with a spinal origin.

What to Expect on the First Visit

The Chiropractic exam will focus on the alignment of your spine. We will analyze our posture, joint restriction, muscle tension and location of pain. X-rays may be advised to rule out more serious conditions or to assist in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.

Once the I have identified and explained to you what the problems are, we will discuss the treatment. This will include spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapies, exercise and stretching instruction and postural exercises. While many people are looking only for relief of pain or discomfort, others want ongoing care to improve their health and well being.

If you can't tolerate the manual adjustments, you may instead receive mild or non-force techniques.

Common questions during the initial consultation are; where are you experiencing pain or stiffness? Do you get headaches? Do you experience arm or leg pain? When did this issue start? What injuries have you had? Are you afraid of being adjusted?
